Hurricane Making

While our hurricane models have gotten better at predicting tracks of hurricanes, we still struggle to predict their intensity.

Since measuring in hurricanes is tough and dangerous, scientists have built facilities that simulate hurricane wind and wave conditions.

The facility also helps us understand how we can protect coastal infrastructure in ways similar to what nature does with mangrove forests and coral reefs.
