The Yarning Droplet

Marangoni bursting pulls apart a droplet made of alcohol and water as the alcohol evaporates.

By adding PMMA (which dissolves in alcohol but not water), daughter droplets are suppressed but the PMMA precipitates out.

The resulting strands look like pieces of yarn!
