Scale Testing for Hurricane Damage

This 1/3-rd scale house serves as a test for how coastal structures respond to storm surge.

The tests occur in a wave basin, where control paddles let researchers create the waves of their choice.

The test compared how two structures--identical except for a foot of difference (3ft at full size) in elevation--fared in the same storm.
